Professional Bio
Ashley Kominsky is a Shop Superintendent for Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), a subsidiary of Huntington Ingalls Industries, America’s largest military shipbuilding company and a provider of professional services to partners in government and industry. Serving in this role since March 2021, she has the overall leadership responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations and skilled trades personnel of the Reactor Store Room, a shop that manufactures, tests, and warehouses nuclear temporary systems and nuclear test equipment for submarine and aircraft carrier construction and overhaul.
Ashley joined NNS in 2007, beginning her career as a Nuclear Engineer in Reactor Services Engineering. She has held a number of increasingly responsible positions throughout the company including Shift Fueling Engineer for the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier, Construction Supervisor for the USS Enterprise Defueling, and Engineering Manager for the Nuclear Propulsion Division. She was appointed as Nuclear Engineering Planning Manager for the USS John C. Stennis RCOH to coordinate with engineering, construction/ production division heads, and the government to ensure planning was executed appropriately. Ashley’s diverse Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program industry knowledge, leadership and program management skills, and construction/production experience allows her to excel in a progressively challenging and growth-oriented work environment while upholding the company’s values and making a significant impact on the company's performance.
Ashley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering from University of Florida. She also obtained her Master of Science degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and recently obtained from Project Management Professional® (PMP) certification.
